Summary

Our client is a growing renewable energy & BESS IPP.

Following a significant recent financing and continued investment, the business is entering an exciting period of growth. A number of projects are moving into construction and operation, while the company is expanding into new markets and adjacent infrastructure sectors.

They are now looking for a Group Financial Controller to take ownership of the group’s finance operations, reporting and governance, while playing a key role in future transactions and growth.

The Role

This is a broad, high-ownership position covering both the day-to-day running of the group finance function and strategic financial activity.

Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing group finance operations, reporting and governance across a multi-entity SPV structure.
• Managing the full lifecycle of group entities, including corporate governance and statutory compliance.
• Leading VAT, banking, AP and payroll processes.
• Managing and improving the group’s finance systems and technology.
• Producing internal management reporting and acting as the key contact for auditors and external advisors.
• Managing and developing the finance team.
• Leading finance workstreams on corporate transactions, refinancing and project finance.
• Managing lender relationships, covenant compliance and project drawdowns.
• Supporting the financial structuring of new markets and business lines.
• Managing group liquidity and foreign exchange exposure.
• Continuing to develop an increasingly automated and AI-enabled finance function.

Requirements

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Strong post-qualified experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, within utility-scale renewables.
• Experience managing a multi-entity/SPV group and consolidations.
• Experience with multi-currency accounting and debt instruments.
• Experience working with lenders, including covenant reporting and drawdowns.
• Strong UK VAT and statutory reporting knowledge.
• Experience managing auditors and external advisors.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with significant ownership and responsibility.
